Hello to all of our family and friends!!
Well it looks as if our interesting Karma continues in Michael's
absence :) We tempted fate before he left by joking about what
would happen THIS time while he was gone. It seems big things
always happen when he is gone (well, big to me anyways). Like
when he was in Iraq I was hit by something big from the side ( a
deer? confused jogger? we will never know) while leaving base
one dark morning to go to school. I got out to look at it when I
stopped for my morning coffee for the drive and the entire
drivers side door was caved in as well as the front wheel rocker
:( The next day after taking the truck to the shop some lady
backed into my parked escort in front of my house :( several
weeks later I got a flat tire during a rainstorm. LOLOL Crazy.
Well the fate's decided to make good on our jest and since
Michael has been gone this time our Fridge died (luckily we had
another in the garage, which we moved into the house), the pipe
going from the dryer to the outside filled with water and we had
to call someone out to fix it, and the microwave died :( As if
that all was not enough.....swine flu has descended upon our
house!
A couple weeks ago Lucas was sick before he went to MEPS to
swear in for the Navy. Jazz got sick right after with a very
nasty long lasting flu. Her fever never went about 100 so I
didn't take her to the docs and she rode it out. I never got
sick, and everyone seemed better. Tuesday night Lucas came home
from school and wasn't feeling well but nothing major. Wednesday
(yesterday) he woke me up in the morning to say he was too sick
to go to school I say ok go back to bed. I got up made coffee
and was feeling kind of stuffed up and sniffling so I canceled a
dental appointment (nothing worse than a runny nose and
congestion while someone is stuck in your mouth for an hour
yukka). Jazz was sniffling a bit too. We noticed hours went by
and Lucas had yet to emerge from his room. Not that that is
unusual :) so I checked on him. He was breathing but asleep. he
didn't respond to me talking to him so I just figured he was
really tired. More hours went by and I finally made him get up
and come out with us. He was miserable and not very coherent.
His fever was 102.8 . I called the doc and made an appt for the
following day and had him go back to bed. I went and picked up
some soup and sprite and came back. I checked his temp again at
540pm and it was 103.5 ! I took him to the ER and they said it
looked like swine flu. The did a stick test and said he has
Influenza A. I asked if they were going to do a swine flu test
they said they didn't do them here because it was pointless in
most cases. Swine flu falls under Influenza type A and that is
as far as they narrow it down. His high fever made them say its
swine flu and quarantined him until the 21st ! Sheesh. Anyway,
as of 530 this morning his temp was 104.5. Scared the heck out
of us. Did the cool shower thing and Ibuprofen. Got it down to
103. But it is staying there. I guess Jazz and I are screwed
lolol.
That is all the drama here. I had to tell the school this
morning and the hospital wrote him a slip for missing school
until next Monday. I am keeping a close eye on him. Scary, nasty
stuff! So if you live around me don't come visit! :) We were
joking that someone was going to come and put a red x on our
door. eek. Will update in a few days and hopefully he will be on
the mend. Keep your fingers crossed for us that he gets well
soon and that Jazz and I don't get it!
update Sept 18: Luke's fever is back to normal. Now he is just
sick without fever, poor kid. But he is on the road to recovery.
Jazz and I both woke up coughing and sneezing. EEk :)
