Happy Summer All :)
It has been a strange few months filled with good news and bad.
First and foremost I want to send out all of our heartfelt
prayers and love to my cousins Ty and Karen who lost their son
Seth a few weeks ago. He was the same age as Luke , and I can't
even begin to imagine that kind of pain. We love u guys!
Jazz: Still working at Wendy's and looking for
more. She did actually make a huge effort to go to that art
school I mentioned in my last post. She almost got all of the
money too, but was about 5k short. Yikes. She didn't get to go
and was sad all over again. Still not sure where she wants to go
from here. She still seems torn between trying to get back into
the service or going to school. her indecision is driving her
(and all of us lol) crazy. Hopefully I will have more news on
that front next time. She did finish up a drawing for me. I had
two of her drawing framed and put on my office wall, but it
needed a third. She finally finished it. I need to get it framed
then I will take a pic of the trio. They are awesome.
Luke: As you can see from the pic page Luke has
been a busy guy. First of all he went to Florida for grad night.
Which was actually 3 nights! They went to Disneyworld, Epcott,
Universal Studios, the works. He had a blast! That's where the
weird Nightmare Before Christmas hat came from. He then went to
prom. He actually wasn't going to go as he was between
girlfriends. But I urged him to go anyway. He decided to like 2
days before! Too late to rent a tux. sheesh. The theme was
"Casino Royale" (Oddly so was Jazz's lol). So he still looked
pretty cool. We decided he looked like a hired gun. hehe. He
went with a friend (girl) and ended up leaving with another girl
who is now his girlfriend. hmmm. I realize as mom of the boy you
don't get the good pics because they haven't picked up the girl
yet. I am still hoping one of his friends sends me a picture of
him with Kim, or Abbey, or someone. sheesh. Then of course he
graduated on May 29th! We were so happy for him. It was hotter
than hell out there. Only 150 kids graduated but there were two
full bleachers of family to watch! It was amazing how many
people were there. Afterwards we went to IHOP (His choice, not
ours) and had cake and all. He skipped the parties, as they all
had alcohol at them and this would be a really bad time to get
in trouble just 3 weeks before bootcamp! For his Nuke job he
would have lost it, so he played it safe. Right now he is
working at Wendys, hanging out with friends, going to movies,
and just kicking back until June 27th when we drop off our baby
boy at the recruiters :( he is very excited though. We are proud
of him :)
Michael: Gearing up to get out of the Corps. I
think it makes him sad to retire but what can ya do? At the same
time he is looking for some new adventure and scared at the same
time of the changes that are ahead of us. He is starting to put
feelers out for possible job opportunities and what not. Also
making sure he squares away as much as possible before hand
(like our bills lol). Getting that Durango paid off is our main
priority. He only has 9 months left until terminal leave starts.
Crazy. It is coming up so fast! Still making improvements to the
house. Were really happy to finish that sliding door, no more
leaks thank God. And my office turned out really nice. He
decided to grow a little garden. Right now it only has tomatoes,
2 kinds of peppers, and cilantro growing. Should give us the
ingredients for some nice salsa soon!! He also put some bird
feeders out as we seem to have a billion birds in our yard. The
big Cardinals are the prettiest I think. Oh, I cant remember if
I put this last time or not but Michael quit smoking! We are
very proud of him for it. It has been like 3 months now. We also
celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary in May. Spent the day in
Savannah shopping and eating out. It was really nice.
Heather: I have been working a lot until last
week when I had to end my relationship with my former employer.
:) Because I work from home on my own equipment, failure of said
equipment puts a real crimp in the plans. Also, I had put in for
medical leave and found out they were not going to grant it. I
suppose I would have had to quit anyways as it wasn't like I was
going on vacation. I am having surgery on my eye. Anyways, so
now I will be looking for a job...again post surgery/recovery.
We will see how that goes. Considering the fact I cant drive,
well, that really makes things difficult but we will see how it
all turns out. I had said last post that I was undergoing
Steroid treatments for my eyes (in the form of drops) and would
not do the shots. Well, I lied. LOL. Once it came down to it I
did the shots in my eye. That really was as crappy as I thought
it would be. It did take down the swelling in my eyes like the
doc had hoped. Unfortunately the swelling wasn't the problem, it
was simply covering up the real problem, which turned out to be
a macular hole just as they suspected in the beginning but
couldn't verify. They can now. After my last test the hole was
so clear, it looked like the grand canyon in the back of my eye.
no mistaking that. So now I have to have it surgically closed.
It has a chance of letting me regain some of my middle sight, or
at the very least from it getting worse. The doc noted that my
vision has continued to get worse just during the time I have
been seeing him. So we will see. I go into surgery on June 8th.
If any of you are curious you can look up the surgery on google.
Just type in Vitrectomy. Don't eat before you do. I made the
mistake of reading about the whole procedure (including
pictures). I do not recommend doing that before surgery. It just
freaked me out! They will basically remove the vitreous fluid in
my eye, repair the hole in a way, and fill the void with a
bubble. Because the bubble has to keep constant pressure on the
back of my eye while healing to work, I have to remain face down
for 1-5 weeks!!!! I have to have special equip for this (which
arrived today). I am pretty freaked out about the whole thing,
but what can you do? Wouldn't anyone do anthing to possibly save
their vision?
Well that is all the news for now. I still have more pics but
they are on Michaels phone and he didn't send them to my
computer yet. when he does I will post them. Probably post
recovery though. Oh ya, for Mothers day the kids bought me an
orchid for my office and they went in together and bought me a
rabbit in dress blues from "build a bear" store. They are too
sweet ahh :) Love to all! Will write again soon!
